lets do it again!

ready for round two

Before you get too excited, let me clarify…I am doing Bike & Build again this year, not a cross-country summer trip, but an alumni ride over New Years! It’s called the Chris Webber Memorial Ride (or CWM as we like to say) and goes from Orlando to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.  It’s reserved only for those who have braved a summer (or two) of cross-country cycling and are jonesing for another blissful Bike & Build experience…only this time it’s a tenth of the distance, flat as a board, and still worth every minute.

Now I’m faced with another fundraising challenge, but no where near as intimidating as that staggering 4G I conquered a few months ago [FYI, I ended up raising nearly $5,000 (including in-kind gifts) for my last journey].  For CWM, we’re required to raise $375 in order to go on the trip.  This money goes toward the CWM Fellowship which supports affordable housing projects conducted by Bike & Build alum.

Once again, I’m asking for a little help in reaching my fundraising goal.  This trip is like Bike & Build on crack, everything happens so quick…my deadline to raise the funds is merely weeks away!! By DECEMBER 1st I need to have raised the $375…so please donate whatever you can.

Rest assured, I have pledged my commitment to this cause with a hundred dollar donation as well as a firm letter to Santa stating that all I want for Christmas is to do Bike & Build once again.  I greatly appreciate any help you can offer in supporting my trip and the affordable housing cause.

My friend Brad is AMAZING and has created some of the best Bike & Build vids of all time!  The one above is my favorite, but definitely check out the others found on our B2SB youtube channel:

Oh and I just had to throw in our mustache vid as well…

thanks to some very generous contributions within the past week, I have successfully raised over $4000!! YAY!!!!!

I’m SO excited, and I could not be any happier.  As soon as I saw my account so beautifully complete, I had to do a little celebration dance with the musical stylings of Mika (yea T, you know what I mean).

THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO GOT ME HERE!  I really can’t say it enough…

Now that I’ve raised the required funds to participate, I would like to ask all those who haven’t had a chance to donate yet to contribute to my equipment fund.  I’ve had to heavily invest in cycling equipment and I still have quite a few items left to purchase (as well as my flight back from the west coast!)

I would greatly appreciate any contributions for these ends, so if you would still like to support my journey, check out the In-Kind Gifts page for details.

There’s been a small change of plans, and I have decided to take a different route this summer.  I’ve switched over to the BOSTON to SANTA BARBARA route and i’m super excited for it.  I’ll be heading through the southwest and I get to go to the Grand Canyon!! SCORE

In other news…I’ve raised over $2200 so far!  you know what that means, right?!  I’ve passed the half-way point and am guaranteed my spot on the trip.  Thanks to all my sponsors who have gotten me this far!  There’s still another 1800 to raise, so if you haven’t already done so, please help me reach my $4000 fundraising goal by donating to my Bike & Build account.

p.s. I finally got my bike and I’m ready to start some hard-core training…wish me luck

Fundraising Update!

I’m up to $1500, but I still have a ways to go!  If you’re thinking about donating, I ask that you please do it sooner than later so that I can meet my upcoming deadline.   I’m required to have $2000 raised by March 20th to guarantee my spot on the trip.

biking the country, ay?

This summer i’m doing BIKE AND BUILD!! I will be biking 3,822 3,707 miles from Virginia Beach to Cannon Beach, Oregon Boston to Santa Barbara, CA.  Don’t get me wrong, this is no vacation…it’s a journey.  The whole point of the trip is to raise awareness and funds for the issue of affordable housing.  We’ll be stopping in ten cities across the country and building homes with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and Rebuilding Together.

In order to participate in Bike & Build, I need to raise $4,000, which will be distributed to affordable housing groups across the nation through competitive grant programs and on-the-road donations.  If you’d like to see exactly how the money is distributed, it is clearly detailed on their official website.

Please help me reach this fundraising goal by donating to Bike and Build in my name.  Check out the Donate page for details.

Bike & Build is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and your donation is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
